90年代，美国的失业危机重新抬头,朋克乐在音乐界再度爆炸，西雅图的Grunge音乐风暴引起了强烈的反响与轰动,Nirvana就是在这样的背景下诞生的，乐队由Kurt Cobain和前The Melvins的成员 Krist Novoselic组建，Dave Grohl在录制第二张唱片(Nevermind)固定了的鼓手位置，Kurt Cobain负责主音和吉它， Chris负责低音吉它。1993年11月18日，Nirvana应邀为MTV 制作"Unplugged"演唱会，演出了这场经典的演唱会。
